A truly special washed Ethiopian Landrace, Duromina comes from the Agaro region of Ethiopia. It is among the earliest harvests of the year due to the timing of the growing season in Western Ethiopia, and maintains an exceptionally long bloom period, even up to 6 months or longer. The Duromina washing station is found in the Jimma zone in Ethiopia, in the Qadamessa kebele.
Coffees in Agaro undergo a meticulous washing process. Once cherries are washed and mechanically depulped, they soak overnight in fiberglass tanks to ensure all remaining sugars have been removed from the seeds before drying. The seeds are dried on raised beds for 6-8 hours per day for up to 8 days, with frequent turning to ensure even drying.
The result is a beautifully complex and light cup with bright, gentle acidity and developed sweetness. We get notes of citrus, stonefruit, and iced tea. This coffee lends itself well to a pourover.
